Peer Critiques
I critiqued Emma's painting, and what I noticed was that there are a bunch of shapes, which all together make a heart. There are a variety of colors, including pink, orange, light blue, dark blue, red, and purple. The lines in this painting all connect together, making different types of triangles and other shapes. As the viewer, my eyes immediately go to the heart before looking at all the other shapes. The piece makes me feel love and gives it both a warm and cool side to it. I like this piece because it’s a very unique design idea. The only thing I would do differently is maybe spend a little more time making sure the paint was even. Overall, I think the painting is very well made.
I critiqued Emma's painting, what first stood out to me was the texture in the grass and plants. She painted her grandmothers house as part of her dream/nightmare representing a haunted house. She did a lot of color mixing to get the right shades of browns for all the different parts of the house. There are a few spots where it could be a bit neater or straighter line. The peace makes me feel like i'm in an old neighborhood looking at a house that everyone thinks is creepy. I would add some shading and depth to make the stairs and roof look more natural but overall I think the painting is good.
