My Artwork

IMG_5970 (1)_edited.jpg

For this piece, I went with an optical illusion using monochromatic shades of green. While making this art, I had to be very steady and pay close attention to how straight my lines were. The paint also occasionally was less opaque, so I had to do multiple layers of the colors. In my painting, I wanted it to have underwater sea greens to give it a very naturalistic feel. My goal for this work was to make it an optical illusion that people could look at and understand and feel the piece really popping out at them. Overall, I feel as though my art came out very well for it being my first piece in a while.

For this piece, I used the art of Ink blowing to make the design of the tree, I then used water color to messily make leaves to make it look more like a natural tree. I chose these colors because I wanted the art to make people think of fall with the warm colors. When blowing the ink I wasn't always sure where the ink would go so it made the tree more organic. The colors of the leaves kind of blend together to allow it to look natural instead of very uniform coloring.

For this piece, I used smoke painting as the main eye-catcher of the piece. I manipulated the smoke to appear as if it were blowing in a specific direction, creating the impression of someone blowing out candles. I then used ink blowing and water color to make the cake. I used more water to dilute the color so the piece would keep a darker tone. I added some red where the smoke was blowing to give it an uncomfortable feel; rather than birthdays usually being seen as happy, in this case it's not that way. The cake being blown out can represent multiple things, such as being older and closer to death or someone not being happy to celebrate a day about themselves.

For this piece, I did paper marbling for the first time. I first created and mixed the background using a blend of colors. I then used darker blues and purples to make circles on the background. I used a stick to pull the colors towards the center and give it petals like a flower.

For this piece, I decided to paint a pumpkin pie in light of the holidays, along side it I made it a still life and added a pumpkin, candles, cinnamon sticks, and a leaf. When making this piece I started with the pumpkin because I felt it would be the easiest and have fun detail. Then I spent most of my time and precision on the table cloth to give it the picnic blanket pattern and so it looks like its falling off the table. I then worked on the candles and did the black background before adding the lighting effect to make it glow. Finally I did the pie making it look golden brown and crisply cooked then worked on other extra little details. Overall I enjoyed making this piece and I loved being able to add all the little details.

For this piece, we had to choose anything but a canvas to paint on and I immediately had the idea to do a Rubik's cube. I chose sea creatures as my theme of paintings and picked some I thought would be fun to paint. I made the animals a silhouette so the color of the cube would still be there. I added white dots on to the animals to give them more design and I made little bubbles coming up from the animals to make it look underwater. This painting took a lot of little tedious details to perfect the shape of the animals  grab an

For this piece, I used masking fluid to separate the branches and stump of the tree while I did different shades of green to create depths of the tree leaves. I then went in with a sharpie to create dimension the bark and sections in the leaves. I then added the leaves falling to cover the water color mistakes. I also added light watercolor to one side to give it a more 3 dimensional look.

For this piece, I first did research and looked into photos of a cockatiel till I found one that looked good. I then sketched it out and began using watercolor to bring the painting to life. I used different techniques and colors and strokes to create detail and texture in the birds feathers. The requirement for this painting was to use pen and ink on the outside of the rectangle which I used to create detail and shading in the wood and leaves of the tree. I was very happy with how this painting came out because it looked very realistic and the depth of the painting looks like it really pops out at you.

For this piece, We had to incorporate cubism. What inspired me to do this piece was the movie "Rise of the Guardians". The transition of the evil horse turns into a beautiful creature that instead inspires dreams. I incorporated this into my painting by putting the dark, black and white horse in the middle of a colorful, happy pasture. I was very happy with how this piece came out, I think everything comes together and makes a beautiful, meaningful and colorful piece.
